Polystyrene is a thermoplastic polymer. It gets any shape with heat (it is thermoformable). In scalemodels is usually used to make domes or other curvy elements.
It is easily cut with a cutter (mark the cut and then separate it by hand) and glued with solvent or other adhesives.
